This piece is an assemblage of items representing the long held beliefs in Chinese medicine. These range from drinking ground rhino horn (made of carotin, the same material as our fingernails) to promote stronger bones, to eating shark fins for strength, drinking Asiatic black bear bile to cure cancer, and eating dried sea horses for longevity. These practices are still flourishing today, and have begun gaining traction in the West.
